Each component of the FLI MicroLine camera is designed and manufactured for a long life in the most demanding conditions. All major components are CNC machined and you're looking at only the highest quality electrical components and circuit boards with logo, serial number and focal plane indicators laser-etched on the surface - not printed. FLI designed photo-etched stainless-steel shutters are field- serviceable should they ever encounter damage and the sensor is hermetically sealed from dust and moisture.
What sets FLI MicroLine CCD Cameras apart are their small form factor. At 3.7 x 3.7 x 5 inches (HWL), the FLI MicroLine is a small camera with big camera capabilities! The Microline improves upon the highly successful FLI MaxCam design in a number of key areas including cooling, download speeds, clear aperture, and sensor capability. The MicroLine imaging system will accommodate sensors as large as the Kodak KAI-16000. (For applications without an on-camera shutter, the MicroLine will hold sensors as large as the Kodak KAF-4301E.)

The camera's CCD can be operated at -30 deg C with typical room temperatures and without the need for water cooling or special cooling sequences. Simply set the MicroLine cooling where you want it and the camera will do the rest - quickly and worry-free.
Would you like to know about the FLI MicroLine CCD Camera Internal Frame Buffer? Conventional imaging cameras move the image data directly from the image sensor to the USB port, making them susceptible to added artifacts due to PC processing tasks, processor speed, and other PC-related issues. The MicroLine avoids these issues with its internal frame buffer, thus allowing an image to be quickly read out and downloaded to the PC. This allows the PC to take the image at whatever speed it is capable of without introducing any artifacts to the image.
When it comes FLI MicroLine, you get system compatibility and mounting options. The MicroLine line of CCD cameras is compatible with all FLI imaging accessories, including the Precision line of Color Filter Wheels and Digital Focusers. MicroLine camera adapters are available for microscope, telescope and machine vision connectivity. Mounting options include two M5 threaded holes (side), one 1⁄4-20 threaded hole (side), two 1⁄4-20 threaded holes (front), one 2.7" UNS24-2B thread (nose piece) and FLI's standard v-groove nosepiece.
About The Fairchild Imaging Sensor
This four megapixel device is the next evolution of Fairchild Imaging's family of high performance scientific image sensors. The CCD 3041 is a full-frame multiport charge coupled device (CCD) designed for advanced scientific, medical and industrial digital imaging applications. The focal plane array (FPA) consists of 2048 horizontal by 2048 vertical imaging elements delivering four megapixel resolution. Pixel pitch is 15um which provides high dynamic range (16-bit) that can be further enhanced by utilizing the device's support for on-chip binning. The CCD 3041 is available in a front- or back-illuminated architecture and has a 100% fill factor. With peak quantum efficiency (QE) over 90% this CCD offers exceptional light collection for photon-starved imaging applications.
Fairchild Imaging designs its imagers with the camera designer in mind. The CCD 3041 provides the critical features necessary for CCD camera manufacturers to realize the utmost performance from their imaging systems. A single stage source-follower output amplifier design was chosen for the ultimate low noise performance. The CCD has four outputs that provide high frame-rate while maintaining the low readout noise inherent in these high performance amplifiers. According to Colin Earle, Director of Sales and Marketing at Fairchild Imaging, "the multiport architecture of the CCD 3041 enables leading CCD camera designers to develop real-time imaging systems with low-light scientific performance" In addition to the low-noise high-speed readout architecture, the device has been optimized for use in peltier-cooled low-light-level imaging systems by minimizing the package size and weight. The minimalist ceramic package reduces the heat load of the sensor and allows for efficient thermo-electric (TE) cooling.
