This Baader Planetarium LRGB Filter Set is a round, mounted and threaded 2" filter, providing maximum color contrast and steep transmission curves. Each single filter is polished on a fine optical 1/4 wave length, with sealed coating edges.
When it comes to filters, very few in the field can match with Baader Planetarium quality. Unlike mass produced filters, each Baader filter is individually cut and polished to exacting standards - an accurate 1/4 wavefront over the entire surface. This means absolutely no loss of sharpness of contrast - but that's not all.
What good is a filter if it's not built to last? And that's why Baader Planetarium has such a good reputation. Each individually crafted filter has its edges sealed and the ultra-hard ionbeam deposition ensures the coatings will never degrade from normal use or cleaning. Anti-reflection coatings are applied evenly to both sides of the filter, ensuring no surface stress and no warping of the substrates. All of this adds up to a filter that will last a lifetime.
Now Baader Planetarium introduces their new LRGB Filter Sets. Through an exclusive partnership with the world's leading thin film coating company, they've now produced filters which can produce almost perfect photographic results. With unbelievably high cut-offs and transmission rates (>95%), this RGB filter set is able to achieve what no other can - the separation of the H-Beta and O-III lines.
As you can see, the blue filter passes all the H-Beta and O-III lines and the green picks up the spectrum of the O-III line without blending into H-Beta with no light lost between the two. Thanks to this combination, O-III and H-Beta colors can now be captured as it was meant to seen. What's more, the red and green passbands kick the light pollution line out at 580nm, and the high transmission rates mean the shortest exposure times possible.
In addition, the Green and Red filter passbands nearly touch, leaving only a sharp notch to block out the primary Mercury/Sodium light pollution line at 580nm. The high transmission everywhere else delivers the shortest combined exposures possible. With their special coating stacks, the Baader Planetarium LRGB filters effectively toast reflections, too. As you can see in the above image taken by Mr. Johannes Schedler, Sirius looks very different when imaged using an L and C Filters from Baader Planetarium!
